How do i fix 'Unidentified network - Local only' (Windows Mar 06, 2012 Vista "Local only" and "Unidentified Network" Solutions I have a new Dell Vista machine and at one point I was able to connect to the internet to do Windows Updates and now I have a message saying "Local Only". I tried wireless and wired and with both connection I am unable to access the internet. I get the message saying "Local Only" and under network connections it says "Unidentified Network". Unidentified Network. Local access only. Vista.? | Yahoo

If that is the case, then your only other real concern is to set up the wifi, which by your friends account you did and set up a ssid of FBI Van#2, with a password I assume??? We get "Unidentified Network" and "Local Access Only" warnings. We have three other Windows XP computers on the same network and they all work fine. Searching the internet there are many suggestions and I've tried a few of them and they don't work. I'm about ready to box up the Dell XPS computer and send it back to Dell and ask for our money
